Free for all. Distributed with GPL+LGPL license.
Supports Xen/Kernel-based Virtual Machine(KVM) hypervisor. Other hypervisors/virtualization support on future plan.

Karesansui: The Name

Shitennoji Honbo garden "Karesansui", or "枯山水", or "Japanese Zen garden", is one of a style of Japanese traditional rock garden. With Karesansui, people try to 'see' mountains, ocean, landscape of rich nature, in a dry garden of rock and sand, which indeed has no water, with the help of one's mind. We thought this concept resembles virtualization, which tries to 'see' bunch of real servers and computers in a few computer's dry RAM garden.

Karesansuiは、日本発のオープンソースのサーバ仮想化管理アプリケーションです。

特徴

複雑な部分を抽象化した、シンプルで直観的なWebインターフェース。
簡単にインストールが可能で、初期導入のコスト軽減が可能です。
GPL+LGPLライセンスで提供されるフリーソフトウェアであり、個人ユース、商用を問わず無料で利用することができます。
Xen/Kernel-based Virtual Machine(KVM)に対応しています。今後、他の仮想化技術／ハイパーバイザーにも対応する予定です。
複数言語に対応しています。現在は日本語と英語をサポートしています。

Karesansuiの名前の由来

Shitennoji Honbo garden 実際にはない環境を、あたかもあるかのように見せる仮想化技術を、日本の伝統的な庭園様式である「枯山水」に見立てたのが由来です。『枯山水は水のない庭のことで、池や遣水などの水を用いずに石や砂などにより山水の風景を表現する庭園様式。』（「枯山水」 2009年1月4日 (日) 19:08　UTCの版『ウィキペディア日本語版』より引用）
